Martin Paren

Martin Paren has 24 years’ experience as a health and safety inspector with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) covering all forms of manufacturing and construction from multiple offices across the country, as well as being part of virtual teams covering fairgrounds, temporary demountable structures and cladding removal/replacement (following the Grenfell Tower tragedy).

Jen Deeney’s friend and mentor from her time with the HSE, he has vast investigation experience of both serious injury and fatal accidents, including 5 years on a multi-fatal major incident investigation. Regularly conducting suspect interviews under caution and liaison with other agencies including Police, Border Force, Fire Service and Local Authority.

24 years of enforcement experience ranging from Notification of Contravention letters through Improvement and Prohibition Notices to Prosecution – with experience of presenting cases, cross examination and giving evidence in Magistrate, Coroner and Crown Courts.

His extensive training background includes regular presentations on behalf of HSE for Working Well Together groups, Safety Awareness days, and sat as HSE rep on local Merseyside and North East Occupational Health and Safety Groups.
